This spring we had the absolute pleasure of collaborating on a WedPlan Milwaukee styled shoot at The Commodore. Click HERE to visit our feature on WedPlan's website.

ABOUT OUR DAY

For this shoot, we had the pleasure of being the floral designers! We created several different arrangements and designs, tailored to the wonderful vision of Makayla Mashlan Photography. Working tirelessly with a team wonderful team of local vendors, we created this luxurious lakeside masterpiece.

THE DETAILS

We gave the bridal bouquet, boutonniere, and extra floral clippings to be used to capture these beautiful detail shots at the beginning of our day.

THE BOUQUET + BOUTONNEIRE

The bride’s bouquet was a draping bouquet made of dominantly tulips. We also included some calla lilies and amaranthus to add texture and further the draping look. The groom’s boutonniere was made of one calla lily with a few greens to match the bride.

THE CEREMONY

We used 8 large fern plants as the base for the half moon at the top of the altar. We sprinkled in white delphinium to continue with our simple green and white color scheme. On either side of the half moon were two pillars with multiple different arrangements on them. We used the varying heights and sizes to create dimension and life. These arrangements pulled a variety of flowers used throughout the shoot, including: amaranthus, calla lilies, delphinium, hydrangeas, oriental lilies, and tulips. The two large pillars/arrangements and the 8 large fern arrangements were repurposed for the sweetheart table. The bottom arrangements were repurposed for the bar.

COCKTAIL HOUR

We created two asymmetrical arrangements for either side of the bar. These were made to frame the bar and the size specifically was made in reference to the large lamps on each side along with the size of the stationer’s custom jug. Within the jug we placed one large hydrangea and draped some grapes.

THE RECEPTION

We repurposed the ceremony vases filled with calla lilies as the base of our arrangements to keep the entire look of the day cohesive. On top of those vases we created a base of hydrangeas, added some amaranthus for another drapey look, and topped it with calla lilies, tulips, and delphinium to create a bouncy look at the top - almost as if the top flowers were springing out of the base of hydrangeas. We used light blue delphinium in these arrangements to pull from the blue color of the napkins on the table. This was the only pop of blue we used throughout the event. We also added green grapes to the table. Surrounding the bottom of the sweetheart table we repurposed the large fern arrangements from the ceremony to create a lush look surrounding the couple. We also repurposed two of the pillars along with the two large arrangements to provide a backdrop for the couple. We also created a unique arrangement to sit on the center of the table. This arrangement pulled inspiration from the guest table arrangements and used the same flowers along with grapes.

THE OUTFIT CHANGE

We created a floral purse of calla lilies to go with the bride’s second look. We added in strings of beaded pearls to create another draping look that mirrored the movement of her bouquet.

THE DUCKS + THE CAKE

We decided to create the ducks as a nod to the Commodore’s logo and the duck decor they have throughout the venue. We carved floral foam into the shape of the ducks to create our base. We used one closed lily as the beak, tulips as the wings, and two mum variations as the rest of the feathers. Underneath the ducks we created a bed of fern leaves. We used some fern leaves and tulips surrounding the cake. For the cake table, we opened up these tulips in order to make them look like water lilies to go with the theme of the ducks. We also brought satin linens for the cake table and created some draping to add drama and dimension for this set up.
